12.30.2013

My New Year's Resolution, among other things, is to begin to blog.  I already have a blog, you say.  Not really.  There are a few posts, but nothing of any consistency.  I have a few things I want to blog about this year.

#1)  I am going to attempt to make 2 Pioneer Woman meals each week.  I got one of her cook books for Christmas.  I think I like every single recipe (except the one with curry - but I'm going to do it too).  So I'm going to make these meals and blog about it.

#2)  My spiritual journey of falling in love with Jesus, in a way that I never have.

#3)  My personal journey as my oldest leaves the nest next fall.  I want to spend the first 6 months of the year preparing her for a life on her own.  And I want to prepare myself for life without her.  Don't think about it.

#4)  Books I read.  I read a lot.  Most are freebies from the Kindle store.  But I may venture in to figuring out how to get books from the library, on my Kindle.  That will definitely be something to blog about.

#5)  Crafting.  I love to craft and I just might begin to post what I make.  I'm not trying to get anyone's attention.  But only to share what God has blessed me with.

So if I can get this going, I have lots to keep me busy.  I'm ready to kick off 2014.  Join me!

1.3.2011

I'm not one to make New Year's Resolutions. In years' past, I've made some goals. Sometimes I'm successful and sometimes I'm not. My weight is always an issue!! I'm thinking about Weight Watchers. I would do it with the meetings, as those have the best success rate. But until then, I need to make some changes. I was reading this article and thought that this would be something that I can do.

#1 - No crash diet. They don't work for me. I have to be able to have some flexibility.

#2 - Don't skip breakfast. This is a biggie for me. I'm never hungry in the morning. Other than coffee, I don't like sweet stuff in the morning - so cereal, or yogurt & fruit don't always work for me. Eggs get old after awhile. So this will be my challenge.

#3 - Don't drink extra calories. I haven't been drinking as many fifi drinks - more iced tea.

#4 - Snack. Now - I like to snack, but its what I snack on! So having good snacks available will be important.

#5 - Drink plenty of water. So-so for me. I do drink water regularly, but I probably need more.

So that's my health tip for the day. I'm going in for blood tests today - the whole shebang, so I'm sure I'm going to find out some things that I won't like. Time to make some changes.

My
Walk with Women thru the Word was great today. A real challenge for obedience.

Have fun ~*

1.1.2011

It's a new year and I'm determined to get more active in my blogging. I don't have much to say but I sense that the Lord wants to speak through me in some way. It may be an encouragement. It may be in the form of a craft/creation. I don't know. No one may ever read this. But its coming from my heart.

I started reading the Bible through today. I'm following
this plan. I'm excited. As I feel comfortable, I'm going to share some of what I am learning.

So to all - have a Happy New Year. Stop in and say Hi through the year.

Have fun ~*

Day #2

I am on Day #2 of WW online. I'm really trying. Trying to make positive changes and choices. We went to Pei Wei for lunch. I ordered a salad. It was only 6.5 points FOR HALF!!! So I had a 13 point lunch. Oh well - we were going to go to Chipotle. Their salad is 11 points. So dinner will be a little lean!

I worked on a card this a.m. It's not done yet. I'll take a picture and post it later. I'll also post the Father's Day cards I made.

I am Alive!

I have not blogged for ages. Just haven't been able to get into the groove. I need some motivation.

This is a motivation. I really need to make some changes in my life. I'm 50 now. It's not going to get any easier. I need to commit to 30 minutes each day and to eating healthy. I may try WW online. I need accountability.

So here goes...

I am Alive!

Yes, blogging world, I do exist. Of course, no one reads my blog, so it doesn't matter!

I read this on Jennifer Stewart's blog and I thought this might be a great way to get blogging again.

What is your current obsession?
Paper bag albums. I found larger paper bags at the grocery store and decided to start making some. I'm also obsessed with iced coffee with LOTS of non-fat milk and a pump of vanilla.

What is your weirdest obsession?
Hmm.... probably making lists and having to have hard copies of things. I was trying to do something last night only using the computer and was about to scream, wanting a pen and paper in my hand. Oh...and I can't go to bed with the kitchen dirty. And I can't get into the bed unless it's made up first.

What are you wearing today?
Plaid bermuda shorts and a V-neck T-shirt. Comfy and looks okay when I go out.

What’s for dinner?
Mexican - slow cooked green chili chicken and then make-your-own tostadas, burritos, soft tacos - whatever you want. Oh, and homemade Ina Garten's guacamole (thanks to Brenda McDermand!!)

What would you eat for your last meal?
In-N-Out burger Double-Double with grilled onions, fries and Diet Coke.

What's the last thing you bought?
I went grocery shopping this morning. Does that count?

What are you listening to now?
Kool-FM

What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Anything with chunks of chocolate and caramel.

If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?
Well I have a house paid for in Scottsdale Arizona. If I could have a second paid-for home, I would choose either San Diego, Tuscany or Germany.

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
The Black Forest.

Which language would you want to learn?
I would like to perfect my German.

What's your favorite quote (for now)?
"Finish strong." Don't know who said it, but I like it. My 2nd favorite is "Go all out."

What is your favorite color?
Hard to say. It depends. For clothing I like pink, turquoise, khaki. For the home I like sagey green, tan, red.

What is your favorite time of day?
Early morning is great, before everyone else is up.

What is your favorite piece of clothing in your own wardrobe?
Cropped pants, tanks

What is your dream job?
After being a wife and mom, I would love to do something creative &/or working with people.

What's your favorite magazine?
Scrapbooks, Etc., US Weekly, People, Creating Keepsakes

If you had $100 now, what would you spend it on?
Something crafty, even though I don't need anything more!

Do you admire anyone's style?
I admire the style of Carolina Herrara. Her clothes are timeless and classic.

Describe your personal style?
Not sure I have a style. But I'm getting there!

What are you going to do after this?
Make lunch for the girls and see if I have more work. The In box is a little empy right now!

What are your favourite movies?
The Sting, Sound of Music, Elf, The Notebook, Return to Me (to name a few)

What's your favourite fruit?
Watermelon, pineapple, banana

What inspires you?
creative magazines and websites

Do you collect something?
I used to collect angels, but I have nowhere to put them now - we don't have chatzky spots at this house - so they are packed in a box. Rob would say I collect crafting stuff!

Wow - that was fun! Now it's your turn!

Okay - I know what I said...

I know that I said I'd blog more and take photos. Well the only thing I've done is join WW and I've lost 15 lbs. Of course now I've hit a plateau and need to get my butt kicked. But I think that my hormones are off. I've been really grouchy and moody lately. So I think that its time to call the GYN and get an appointment. I actually drank a very small glass of wine around 3;00 today. It's getting bad.

I want to be inspired. I lack all inspiration. I lack any spiritual sense within myself. I feel so far from the Lord. I keep asking Him to find me. I want to be grateful for my life. We have so much. We have had so much work, in a horrible economy. My best friend has lost her job, yet she remains so hopeful and peaceful. I want me back. Help me find my way....
